Fire destroys 7 shops at Kalaktang

KALAKTANG, Sept 25: At least seven shops, including the office of the Cooperative Societies (LAMPS), were reduced to ashes in a major fire mishap in the heart of Kalaktang sub-divisional headquarters in the wee hours yesterday. Although the main cause of the accident is yet to be known, there are no reports of any human casualties. Properties worth lakhs of rupees is reported to have been gutted. Few important documents and files relating to the cooperative Lamp have also been damaged.

In the absence of fire tender, the local people tried to douse the fire but it was too late as the fire had already spread and engulfed the shops.

This is the second such major fire accident in the sub-divisional headquarters of Kalaktang. In 2012, fire devastated around 25 shops in the main market area causing huge loss to the shopkeepers.

APCC blasts MoRTH for

deplorable road condition

ITANAGAR, Sept 25: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today lambasted the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for deplorable condition of roads under Tran-Arunachal Highway projects.

While terming the road condition in all the trans- Arunachal highway as pathetic, APCC president Padi Richo said that the MoRTH is not repairing or constructing the trans-highways roads in Arunachal after it has taken up the TAH project from the Border Road Organization (BRO).

"Neither the BRO nor the Ministry of Road, Transport and Highway have shown any interest in repairing or maintaining these roads," Richo said adding that road from Potin to Pangin via Ziro and Daporijo is in a devastated stage which is unexplainable.

Blaming the officers of the concern union ministry for present road condition, Richo said "the road work is not at all moving due to negligence of officers representing the ministry which are deputed here." If anything untoward incident occurs on these roads, the ministry will be held solely responsible, Richo said

Tata Sumo falls into Sipu River

AALO Sep 25: An Itanagar-bound Tata Sumo that started off from Paktu Tinali skidded off the road and fell into the Sipu River this morning.

All the passengers onboard the vehicle have sustained grievous injuries and conditions of two are reported to be critical. The accident occurred few minutes after the vehicle crossed the Sipu Bridge.

The speeding Sumos unmindful of passengers' safety has become a cause of serious concern and time has come for authorities concerned to tame all unruly drivers. DIPRO

Traders booked for illegal practices

DAPORIJO, Sep 25: The department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs, Daporijo booked six traders under Legal Metrology Acts & Rules for selling expired goods and altering/obliterating the maximum retail price printed on packaged items etc during search and seizure operations conducted within Daporijo town in the current month.

During the checking, the team led by ILM Bengia Dongro seized 70 cases of expired packaged cold drinks following direction of the district administration. DIPRO

Dagam village presentation win accolades

DAPORIJO, Sep 25: The presentation and exhibition stall put up by Dagam village of Upper Subansiri district in the just concluded National Workshop on Good Practices in Rural Development at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh was appreciated by all.

A 3-member delegation from the district, namely, Nyatum Doke, Prime Minister's Rural Development Fellow, MoRD, Tapak Dagam, ASM Lable-IV GP and Pakbu Nayam participated in the workshop.

According to Aruna Sharma, ACS, Rural Development Department, Madhya Pradesh, the presentation made by Arunachal Pradesh was the best. The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan also visited the Arunachal Stall and praised the effort.

World Pharmacists Day observed

ITANAGAR, Sep 25: The Arunachal Pradesh Pharmacy Council (APCC) supported by the Arunachal Registered Pharmacist Association (ARPA) observed the World Pharmacist Day themed, 'Pharmacist your partner in Health' by organizing a meeting at the conference hall of Directorate of Health Services, Naharlagun today.

Addressing the pharmacists who attended the meeting from all over the state besides, senior officers and staff of the DHS on the occasion as chief guest, Director of Family Welfare and in-charge Director of Health Services, Dr. Hage Tabyo said that pharmacists are the main functionary of the health care system and they need more support from the authority. Highlighting the important role which they play in assisting patients, Dr. Tabyo said that pharmacists are the main link between chemical sciences and medical science.

Blood donation camp conducted at DBC

ITANAGAR, Sept 25: A blood donation camp was organised by the NSS unit of Don Bosco College (DBC) Itanagar in collaboration with Arunachal Yuva Shakti (AVYS) and Arunachal Aids Control Society (APSACS) in its college campus yesterday.

About 70 units of blood were collected during the camp. The blood will be kept at General Hospital Naharlagun Blood Bank for further distribution to the needy.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sona, APSACS, delivered a talk on Blood Donors Motivation Programme and highlighted in brief about the importance of voluntary blood donation.

Taking part in the programme, Principal (Fr) Dr. Nicholas appealed all the fraternity of the college to voluntarily contribute blood for the greater cause of society and the humanity. President AVYS, Rakesh JK also spoke on the occasion.

Month-long sanitation campaign launched

ITANAGAR, Sep 25: The Department of Public Health Engineering & Water Supply today launched a month-long sanitation and cleanliness campaign along with rest of the country at Govt. Middle School, Lekhi village to mark the one-year of launching Swachh Bharat Mission (G).

The campaign was launched by the Commissioner (PHE&WS) HK Shalla in presence of departmental engineers, PRI members, representative from Seva Bharati, teachers and students of the school.

The Commissioner (PHE&WS) urged the public and other participants to adopt sanitation as a way of life in order to achieve the goal of "Clean and Healthy Arunachal".

The department has donated few dustbins to school authority and insisted to inculcate and maintain the practice of cleanliness and hygiene among students.

The programme was followed by cleanliness drive in and around school campus.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Swachh Bharat Mission (G) on October 2 last year to realize the Gandhiji's dream of clean India by 2019.

NSS DAY celebrated

ITANAGAR, Sep 25: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, Tomi Polytechnic College, Basar has celebrated the 9th NSS Foundation Day at college premises, Basar in West Siang district yesterday.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dr. R. Bhagawati, Joint Director, ICAR, Basar, while lauding the role of NSS, urged upon the student volunteers to continue their community services for the benefit of the society. Earlier, Bhagawati hoisted the NSS flag on the occasion.

In his speech Basar Govt Higher Secondary School senior teacher B D Mishra said that students should have knowledge about the problems of the community and apply their education in solving community problems. NSS Programme officer V Arul Kumar also spoke.

The NSS volunteers presented a cultural programme to mark the occasion.

The NSS Unit of Rang-Frah Government College, Changlang also celebrated the NSS Day at its college campus yesterday. The celebration began with a mass social service by NSS volunteers in the college campus followed by mass tree plantation along the road side of the college.

Essay writing competition was also organized on the topic 'The College Life' among the volunteers.

Samtum Ronrang of BA 1st Semester and Panon Latam of B.A. 3rd Semester adjudged the first and second position respectively in essay writing competition.

The day also witnessed Volleyball and Football competitions among the different groups.

Later in the evening, the NSS volunteers presented number of colourful songs and dances.

Arunachalees express dismay over SC verdict on citizenship rights to Chakma & Hajong

ITANAGAR, Sept 25: Supreme Court's verdict to confer the Indian citizenship rights to the eligible Chakma and Hajong refugees settled in Arunachal Pradesh has failed to cut ice with the Arunachalees and the verdict has evoked strong sentiment across the state.

On 17th September, Justice Anil R Dave and Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, while hearing a petition filed by the Committee for Citizenship Rights of the Chakmas in Arunachal Pradesh, passed order stating that the Government of India and Arunachal Pradesh government should confer citizenship rights to eligible Chakma-Hajong refugee within next three months.

Further, the Supreme Court was of the view that once the decision has been taken to settle Chakma and Hajong refugees in the state, they would become residents of Arunachal Pradesh and would not require inner line permit (ILP). It is this observation of the Apex Court which has put serious question mark over the validity of 'ILP'. Arunachal is protected state under Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, 1873, under which no non-APST can enter state without obtaining prior ILP. But the ruling of Apex Court will have serious implication on the future of Arunachal.

"This remark of the Supreme Court will open the flood-gate for refugees and outsiders in the state. If refugees are allowed to settle in Arunachal without ILP, tomorrow other groups will also start making similar demand and soon outsiders will outnumber the local indigenous tribal population," said Tobom Dai, former chairman of Chakma-Hajong refugee issue, AAPSU.

Tai Khamti Singpho Council (TKSC) today held a meeting at Chongkham and has decided to strongly oppose the verdict of Supreme Court. "We are going to hold a mega rally on 30th September at Chongkham to protest against the judgment. The rally will be attended by NGOs and youth organizations of Namsai district. We will decide our next course of action on that day," said CM Moungmow, General Secretary of TKSC.

The old timers are of the view that it was a grave mistake to let Chakma, Hajong refugees settle in the state. "The refugees started settling in Margherita-Jagun area in the year 1961. However, in 1964 central government decided to settle them in Diyun circle and that is when whole problem started. At first, around 1,000 refugees got settled. At that time we had no proper political representation as state was under NEFA administration. Taking advantage of the lack of knowledge of the Arunachalee people, the Chakma, Hajong were pushed into Arunachal," said C Lungphi, Gaon Burah of Songking village, Miao. Further he added, "In the year 1974-75 when population of refugees started to increase, then the Arunachalees started to revolt against them. But sadly their population has grown too big and they are now dominant force in Diyun-Miao area. It is virtually impossible to physically push them out."

Many believe that one of the biggest mistakes Arunachalees did was not to pursue the matter with human rights organizations. "Chakma has managed to win confidence of both national as well as international human rights organizations. One Suhas Chakma who runs Asian Centre for Human Rights (ACHR) is a prominent human rights activist. Like him there are many more Chakma leaders who over the year have forged close relationship with human rights groups. During various human right programmes, they keep on meeting High Court and Supreme Court judges. The Chakmas have won propaganda war and have managed to vilify Arunachal in the eye of human rights group," said Tobom Dai. "Human rights groups are biased. They only support Chakma and are against the interests of Arunachal," said Tadar Dominic, former AAPSU President and senior BJP leader. On being asked about the position of his party on the Supreme Court ruling, he expressed, "BJP will react only after properly going through the judgment. But personally, I am not against granting of citizenship to them. However, they should not be allowed to settle in our territory. Our tribal population is very less and allowing Chakma to permanently settle in Arunachal will change demography of the state."

Dominic also stated that it is unfair to blame AAPSU for Chakma, Hajong mess. "There is no doubt that many AAPSU leaders have gone on to make a career in politics. But they did it on their own merit. It is wrong to say that they used refugee issue. In fact if AAPSU had not strongly opposed them, the situation could have been quite different. In 2003, when enrollment process for Chakma started, I was president of AAPSU and we had strongly opposed the process. Because of our opposition enrollment was canceled in many places. If at that time AAPSU had not taken strong stand, today a Chakma might have become the MLA of Diyun-Bordumsa assembly constituency," added Dominic. He also called upon people of state and government of Arunachal to share responsibility in this regard.

The locals of the affected area also alleged that Chakma & Hajong refugees are slowly but steadily destroying the generation of indigenous youth with their anti-Arunachal policy. "They are rampantly indulging in smuggling of the drugs. It is their well planned policy to make drugs available in the market, so that local youths get lost in drug addiction," shared a local citizen of Miao. Some Arunachalees are of the view that recent decision of the government of India to set up a task force to work out modalities on how to grant citizenship to the scores of Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and Chakma refugees had a bearing on the Supreme Court ruling. When contacted, Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi informed that matter will be discussed in the next cabinet meeting and accordingly state government will take a decision.

Policy to boost film-making sector on the cards

3rd Arunachal Film Festival begins

ITANAGAR, Sept 25: State Government Spokesman and Parliamentary Secretary IPR, Bamang Felix today announced that the state Govt is going to formulate a policy to promote film making sector as an industry in the state. Felix said this while inaugurating the 3rd Arunachal Film Festival 2015 at Sky Digital Cinema, Nirjuli this evening.

Describing the movie/cinema as powerful medium to transform the society for prosperity, Felix said with the budgetary allocation of Rs 1 crore by the state Govt for development of film-making sector and the initiative being taken up for establishment of the Film and Television Institute at Jollang, Arunachal is going to become front-runner in film making in entire North East. The film industry in the state will get the required financial support and the state would move forward in the field of art and film making with the formulation of the policy, he said. Moreover, the upcoming film institute also encourages the new generation to step in film making in professional away. He, however, called upon the film makers to showcase the pan Arunachal identity while making film in the state.

Information Commissioner and prominent litterateur Y D Thongchi, who happened to be one of the Jury members for short films this year, highly appreciated the young talented film makers of the state. He, however, emphasized on making films on various social sectors like games and sports, music etc.

Planning and IPR Secretary Sonam Chombey, while highlighting the background of the Arunachal Film Festival, said that the film-making sector in the state is taking the shape of an industry in a bigger way within a short period of time. Chombey informed that the state is hosting the North East Film festival during the statehood day celebration in February next. Local films of national repute would be screened during the event. Speaking on the occasion, Director IPR CM Longphong said the state government has been conducting film festival since 2013 with an objective to encourage the local film-makers.

Earlier, Felix declared the three-day film festival open by lighting the ceremonial lamp amidst the presence of dignitaries, members of Arunachal Film fraternity and enthusiastic film lovers.

The festival will showcase many exciting films besides having interaction session of the local film makers to bring out modalities for further promotion of the sector.

Short film "Youth Fireflies in between", a documentary "Little Monk in Tawang" and a feature film " Itanagar 0 Km" were screened on the first day of the festival. The second day of the festival will witness many film screening including short films, namely, Shackles, M3 Money Men Mad and Nawa Ga HWME, My Quest, The Dream etc. DIPR

NIHRO protests SC verdict on Chakma and Hajong

ITANAGAR, Sept 25: Nefa Indigenous Human Rights Organization (NIHRO) has strongly raised protest against Supreme Court's recent verdict directing the Central and Arunachal Pradesh governments for granting citizenship rights to Chakma and Hajong refugee within the state.

Stating that the SC order has contradicted the Bengal Eastern Frontier Act 1873, the NIHRO said that the state is not in a position to take more responsibility of sheltering the refugees since the population of the state is increasing day by day while land and resources are limited. "We are not against the granting of Indian citizen to any human race but before taking such decision Union government should identify the area/land where they would be rehabilitated. Govt of India should not give their burden to the people of Arunachal Pradesh," the organization said. "These refugees were provided temporary settler by the Govt of India, therefore now it is the duty of Central Govt to deport them from Arunachal," the organization said.

Meanwhile, the organization appealed to the state Govt to convene coordination meeting on Chakma and Hajong refugees and all-party meeting to find out permanent solution to the refugee issue.

Political leaders should not try to make this a political issue just for cheap political gain, nor there should be a blame game over the issue, the organization added.

2nd phase of MI in 10 districts

ITANAGAR, Sep 25: The second phase of Mission Indradhanush to ensure immunization of all left out children against seven vaccine preventable diseases will be launched in 10 identified districts from next month.

Vaccination programme will be carried out for seven days each in a month for four months till November, 2015.

It was decided in a meting of the State Task Force for Immunization (STFI) today.

The identified districts are Tawang, West Kameng, Papum Pare, Kurung Kumey, Upper Subansiri, West Siang, Dibang Valley, Anjaw, Tirap and Longding. The phase-1 of Mission Indradhanush covered East Kameng, East Siang, Upper Siang, Lohit and Namsai.

Dr. D Padung, Nodal Officer (NHM) highlighted the key issues and observations during the Phase-1 of MI and dwelt on the lessons learnt that could be considered for implementation during second phase. He also detailed about technical aspects of MI-II to be considered for planning and implementation to achieve the target.

Dr Emi Rumi, Jt. DHS, stressed the need of proper training for all the frontline workers at sub-district level.

Taking part in the discussion, P N Thungon, Mission Director (NHM) suggested for involving the Deputy Commissioners of those identified districts for phase-II MI for success.

Bolung Siram, Commissioner (H&FW) assured the members of STFI his personal monitoring of the progress and requested all the Deputy Commissioners to lead the programme personally. Further, he stressed on the need for mobilization of existing system, a robust micro plan in all the blocks of MI districts and conduction of awareness campaign on MI and Immunization.

East Kameng DC cautions health workers against dereliction of duty

SEPPA, Sept 25: East Kameng Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar Singh has cautioned against dereliction of duty by health workers and asked the DMO and DRCHO to submit a list of names of low performing ASHAs. The DC was addressing the review meeting of the District Health Society (DHS) on its achievements and future strategy under the National Health Mission here today.

In order to achieve the target fixed under various programmes, the DC suggested for organization of more extensive outreach programmes after due consultation with the concerned MOs. He further directed the DRCHO to revise the target fixed after discussion with the concerned MOs and by taking note of the actual population of the area.

Emphasizing more on reportage, he has directed the DMO to compile all formats required for reporting and furnish them to MO concerned. He urged the ANMs, ASHAs and health fraternity present to work sincerely.

Seppa ADC Pooja Jain has requested the health fraternity to play a proactive role and directed the DMO, MS and DRCHO to send notices to defaulting ANMs and ASHA facilitators directing them to report on time. She urged the OST cell in-charge to utilize the cell fully and advised for convergence of awareness programme related to drug abuse with the education department and others. Earlier, Dr. N. Geiyi, DMO, while expressing satisfaction over performance in implementation, especially in the immunization programme, has requested the health staffs to cooperate and coordinate for better implementation of any health programmes. Cautioning against any negligence, he sought to take disciplinary action against anyone found indulged in dereliction of duty.

Describing the ANMs on-field soldiers of the department, he requested them to spread the health related issues and information to the masses. He further requested the ANM and ASHA facilitators and others concerned to make report of any kind of medico-related cases occurring in their area of duties. He informed that all the diagnostic processes are done free of cost at district hospital, except the X-ray and ultrasound tests. Acknowledging the whole-hearted support of the ADC Seppa, Pooja Jain, he further informed that the New Born Care Unit is functioning in full swing in the district hospital.

Dr. K. Lapung, DRCHO has highlighted the physical and operational status of CHCs, PHCs and Sub-Health Centers and the achievements made under various health programmes in the district. He made a quarterly comparison of HMIs and MCTS and informed that the figures are depicting improved reportage system and better health delivery.

Dr. N. Bodi, District TB Officer has briefed about the function of the RNTCP cell and given the total number of cases tested and undergoing treatment under DOTS.

BJP Nari Koyu resents teacher transfers

ITANAGAR, Sep 25: 36-Nari Koyu BJP has demanded that transfer of teachers be streamlined while alleging that number of teachers have been transferred out from the Nari Koyu Assembly Constituency where as most schools are battling shortage of teachers. The president of the Constituency's BJP unit Marbom Doye said that most of the teachers who have been transferred out were not allowed to complete their tenure. He further said that there were only seven teachers at one of the Govt Higher Secondary Schools with no maths, science and Hindi teachers. Doye also said that some primary schools are being run by just one teacher.

He further said that Nari Secondary school was upgraded to Higher Secondary recently without proper infrastructure and teachers. Doye also cited an example where people of Telam are contributing money to pay for Economics teacher at the Higher Secondary School.

He further said that Koyu Higher Secondary School is running without Economics and Geography teachers.

While informing that there is shortage of 98 teachers in the schools of the constituency, Doye said that all the relievers of the transferred teachers be of Science, Maths and Hindi subjects.

Fire destroys house, leaves one injured

ITANAGAR, Sep 25: A house was completely gutted while a person sustained grievous injuries in a devastating fire which reportedly broke out during the midnight hours of Sept 24th at Padi village of West Siang district.

The injured person has been admitted to Aalo general hospital.

The cause of fire, which reportedly destroyed properties worth lakhs, could not be ascertained and an investigation is still on.

Meanwhile, Daring CO Ejum Angu and ZPM Hengi Riba have also rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation and provided immediate relief materials to the victim.

Further, Dari ZPM has appealed to the district administration, general public and NGOs to extend help to the victim on humanitarian ground.

Airmen recruitment rally at DNGC

ITANAGAR, Sep 25: Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct recruitment rally for Group Y (Non technical) and Group X (Technical) Trades at Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar on September 26 and 27 respectively.

The required qualification of candidates for non-technical (Group Y) trades is 10+2 in any stream with 50 percent marks in aggregate and in English while for Technical (Group X) trades, it is 10+2 in Science stream with 50 pc marks in aggregate and English.

Diploma holders with 50 pc marks in aggregate and in English can also apply for the same.

Speed up economic reforms

The opposition parties led by principle opposition party Congress have not helped the cause. It is in this situation that Prime Minister Modi will have to show his leadership skill. If he manages to convince opposition parties to come on board in the greater interest of nation, his stature will grow. If needed, Modi will have to exhibit flexibility for it. It is quite clear that unless he takes Congress party on board he will not be able to deliver upon the reform promises which he made to nation as well as business leaders. The coming winter session of parliament will test his political diplomacy skill and whole world will be keeping close eye on the movement of 7 RCR.

Re-employ us

Dear Editor,

Our Hon'ble Chief Minister and APCC President have given 100 % assurance to terminated RMSA staffs that they will pursue with the HRD Ministry for reconsideration for employment and that if central govt can’t do anything, and then Arunachal govt will find some alternate to re-employ us.

But almost 3 months have passed still no steps have been taken by AP Government. Instead of enhancing our salary, making our post regular and giving our pending salary, they gave us termination letter.

RMSA non teaching staffs got terminated without our fault and both teaching and non teaching staffs have not been paid since 9 months.

So its my request to the selfish and cruel AP government to look into this matter very seriously and release our salary as soon as possible because we are also human beings. We also have stomach, family and children.

Mobile phones versus hard work

Dear Editor,

I have been hearing a lot about the various examinations conducted in our state, particularly for the post of LDC, UDC and Junior Engineer. I have never appeared in these examination before but I often hear about the malpractice taking place for these post.

I have been hearing people saying “mobile phone use karo for GK”.

I was taken aback after hearing such discussions, every word terribly shocked me. It really does irk me that the selected candidates don’t have the ability to speak English nor write proper letter and have less technical knowledge. So how come such candidates are getting selected?

There is immense pain when I see hard working candidate are not getting selected whereas candidate using mobile phones are selected. Is the concern department really blind to see it?

Well, I do really hope that the concern departments would follow the guidelines properly for all the examinations to come.

Frees passes and refugees

Situation is very hot these days in the state of Arunachal Pradesh due to the citizenship right verdict of Supreme Court given in favour of eligible chakmas-Hazongs in Arunachal Pradesh. Present population of the Chakmas in arunachal Pradesh is more than 1 lakhs residing in Diyun, Bordumsa, Maio, Chowkham circles and in the District of Papum Pare. There are large concentration of population at Diyun circle occupying a vast area including the Govt. quarter and forest land.

Foreigner/refugees have been free to enter without a valid pass whereas the (Indian) Assamese, Bangalis, Biharis have to produce ILP pass during entry to Arunachal Pradesh.

Looking at this point, one has to admit the foolishness and grave mistake done by the Government of A.P and AAPSU. During the time of agitation launched against Chakmas and Hajong refugees, the govt. of A.P should have started strict ILP checking system, but the things have gone just the opposite as they were left free to enter Arunachal without any pass. This facility is still being availed by the Chakmas and Hajongs warmly forwarded by the Government A.P.

Still there are chances to strengthen the ILP checking against those illegally residing Chakmas and Hajong in Arunachal Pradesh.

An identity card must be issued to all eligible Chakmas and Hajongs for their journey inside Arunachal Pradesh. There must be a refugee/foreigner checking gate/officer in every state entry point for lessening the burden being faced by the indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh.

Where to we dispose the dirt?

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the Capital Municipality and government of Arunachal Pradesh that the waste management of our state is pathetic. Piles of garbage are lying unattended near schools, hospitals, churches and houses. Nobody is taking any responsibilities to dispose them.

It is my daily routine to throw our household waste to the colony's dustbin. Recently, I was astonished to see our garbage area somewhat clean.

With a light heart, I disposed the waste and was puzzled to see the dustbin in an unusual position (flipped over), outside the Chandranagar Petrol Pump boundary wall. A neighbour requested me not to throw the garbage there again because it is public road or area.

Then, I recalled, last Sunday, the members of the Church were cleaning its surrounding. So, I looked for more dustbins but to no avail. I know there is a dustbin in the middle of the market. The sight make you puke and it's smell choke. The situation here is where we shall dispose our domestic waste. There used to be three or four dustbins in our colony but now, none. Why?

Due to negligence and mismanagement, our citizens are suffering from many problems. If the concern departments are unable to clean up, then kindly, I beg you to step aside and handle businesses which you are able. Please don't use our clothes to rub the dirt off your shoes.

Drunk drivers and music

Dear Editor,

I am a great fan and delighted to know that the Ziro Festival of music has begun with great pomp and show. There are lots more to hear and visualize compared to last year. The Music festival which is a great boon for the growth of tourism sector in Ziro Valley, also aims at promoting one of the most promised eco-tourism in the state. 1000s have gathered from all over the country to witness the beautiful program of the valley.

Apart from all the awesome activities happening around in the program, there are lots happening inside and mostly outside the program.

The main problem is the drunken drivers; they are all over the traffic at night. They are the boss of all. They can drive any lane of their wish, which is a great threat to other fellow audience who have come to enjoy the same program and especially the outsiders. If something worse happens whom should we blame?

So looking at this matter seriously as a major drawback for the Festival, I would like to sincerely request the Authorities of the program to keep check and balance at the rate of liquor consumption to prevent any such incidents in future.
